Mount Superior, or Superior Peak, rises 11,045 feet above Little Cottonwood Canyon in Utah’s Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Highly visible from Utah State Route 210 and only about 35 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, it has become one of the Wasatch’s most visited and recognizable peaks. Hikers commonly reach the summit by the Cardiff Pass route, while the South Ridge offers a more serious scramble or rock climb. In winter and spring, the mountain is especially known for steep backcountry ski and snowboard descents, including the South Face and the east-facing chute called Suicide Chute or Shane’s Chute. Its appeal lies in combining easy access with demanding terrain.
