Grayrock Peak is a 12,504-foot mountain in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, west of the Continental Divide and north of Durango, with the summit forming the highest point of Graysill Mountain. Rising sharply above Cascade Creek, it has prominent local relief and drains into tributaries of the Animas River. The mountain is composed of trachyte, and a rock glacier on its north side was formed by rockfall from high cirque walls. Its alpine subarctic climate brings snowy winters, summer thunderstorms, and late-summer monsoon weather. The name Grayrock Peak was officially adopted in 1908 by the United States Board on Geographic Names.
