The Cathedral is a 12,224-foot summit in northeastern Utah’s Uinta Mountains, within the High Uintas Wilderness on Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest land. Ranked the state’s 87th-highest summit, it is notable for its rugged setting and strong local relief, rising about 2,000 feet in a single mile despite its remote position among nearby peaks. Water from the mountain drains north into the East Fork Bear River. The area has a subarctic climate with cold, snowy winters and mild summers, while the summit and upper slopes have tundra conditions. Its name has been officially recognized by the United States Board on Geographic Names.
