Horsetrough Falls
Nature
Horsetrough Falls is a 70-foot waterfall on Horsetrough Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains of north Georgia, in Union County’s Mark Trail Wilderness. Its creek is part of the Chattahoochee River’s headwaters, and the river forms within a mile, making the falls closely connected to the river’s beginning before its waters continue roughly 500 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. The site also stands along the Eastern Continental Divide on the mountain’s main ridgeline. A 0.4-mile trail from Upper Chattahoochee Campground leads to an observation platform, and the falls are widely recognized as one of north Georgia’s notable waterfalls.
