Because of its strategic location, the town long served as a pleasant place for people to stop, rest, and refresh themselves. Its first merchant became especially known for homemade pies that were in such demand and of such quality that they became widely famous. Local residents and travelers alike then began calling the community Pie Town, giving it the name it has kept.
