Mount Hebo rises in Oregon’s Northern Coast Range on the border of Tillamook and Yamhill counties, within the Siuslaw National Forest, where it overlooks the Pacific and offers a rare full 360-degree summit view. Reached by an eight-mile Forest Service road near Hebo, it became known as one of the north coast’s most accessible panoramic viewpoints. Its name is linked to an early party seeking a route to the Willamette Valley, with “Heave Ho” said to have evolved into Hebo. Beyond its scenery, the mountain is an extinct volcano and later served as the site of Mount Hebo Air Force Station, a long-range radar installation from 1956 to 1980.
