Castle Rocks is a prominent Sierra Nevada summit and rugged cluster of spires and ridges in Sequoia National Park, rising 9,088 feet above the Middle Fork Kaweah River drainage. Its highest point is the unofficially named Amphitheater Dome, and the mountain’s steep relief gives it a dramatic profile, climbing about 5,700 feet above the river in only three miles. Shaped by an alpine climate that brings Pacific rain and snow, the area has long attracted technical climbers. Since the official adoption of its name in 1928, features such as Castle Rock Spire and The Fin have gained a reputation through notable ascents and later route development.
