Maple Street Covered Bridge in Fairfax, Vermont, carries Maple Street over Mill Brook on the south side of the village. Built in 1865 by Kingsbury and Stone, it is the town’s only surviving historic covered bridge and one of Vermont’s rarer two-lane examples. The bridge is a single-span Town lattice truss with a wooden deck, iron tie rods, and vertical board siding, and its unusual width reflects the substantial village traffic it originally served. After the Flood of 1927 washed it off its foundations, locals long debated whether it was replaced in its original orientation. Renovated in 1990 and 1991, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
