South Kings Peak is a 13,518-foot summit in the Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah, in Ashley National Forest’s High Uintas Wilderness in north-central Duchesne County. Just south of Kings Peak, Utah’s highest point, it is the state’s second-highest mountain. Its location on the high spine of the central Uintas places it within a broad, remote alpine landscape that defines Utah’s most elevated mountain country. As one of the state’s loftiest summits, South Kings Peak is notable for both its height and its setting, and it remains a protected wilderness peak valued for its alpine scenery and place among Utah’s highest mountains.
