Six hundred acres of mountain, field, and forest form a memorial to the late E. B. Jeffress, a native North Carolinian who rose to prominence as a newspaper publisher. As chairman of the State Highway Commission, he was instrumental in routing the Blue Ridge Parkway through scenic North Carolina. A teacher, journalist, and public servant, he is honored here on a portion of the land he loved.
