Hickman County honors the men of the county who gave their lives in defense of their country in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War, and also honors Medal of Honor recipient William Franklin Lyell, a corporal in the U.S. Army who was killed in action in Korea in 1951. It is dedicated to the memory of the men and women who gave their lives so that freedom would ring throughout this land, whose resting place is known only to God, with the resolve that they never be forgotten.
