Clover Mountains Wilderness is an 85,668-acre protected area in southeastern Nevada near the Utah border, encompassing much of the Clover Mountains where the Great Basin and Mojave Desert influences meet. Its rugged volcanic landscape features colorful rhyolite, spires, rock outcrops, and winding canyons. Perennial streams and peaks above 7,000 feet support old-growth forest and riparian corridors with ash and cottonwood. Plant life ranges from ponderosa pine and quaking aspen in higher elevations to sagebrush and Joshua trees in the southern reaches. This varied setting also provides habitat for mountain lion, badger, bobcat, desert bighorn sheep, prairie falcon, and golden eagles.
