Beaver Dam State Park occupies more than 2,000 acres along Beaver Dam Wash in eastern Nevada near the Utah line, preserving a remote riparian corridor. Established in 1935 as one of Nevada’s first four state parks, it was improved in the mid-1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, though floods soon destroyed those early facilities and underscored the wash’s power. Water management later reshaped the park: an earthen dam built in 1961 formed Schroeder Reservoir, but flooding washed out the lake in 2005, and it was drained in 2009 to restore the wash’s natural channel. Today the park supports camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing, and scenic views from Overlook Trail.
