Cougar Canyon Wilderness is a protected federal wilderness area in Utah’s far northwestern corner along the Nevada line. Encompassing 10,409 acres, it preserves hilly juniper-pinyon woodland and canyon country on the edge of Dixie National Forest. Established on March 30, 2009, through the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, it forms part of a cluster of protected lands in this remote border region, with Doc's Pass Wilderness to the south and Slaughter Creek Wilderness to the east. Its importance rests in safeguarding a relatively undeveloped upland landscape and maintaining its natural character within Utah’s wilderness system.
