Joseph V. Weckbach came to Plattsmouth in 1865. After working as a blacksmith, he entered the grocery business. In 1881, with the help of local lawyer Alva Drew, the east two-thirds of the building at 317, 321, and 325 Main Street was built, and in 1886 the remaining one-third was added in the same architectural style. It housed a general store.
