Mount Logan is a prominent mountain in western Colorado above the Colorado River corridor, notable for rising steeply from the river and for its layered sedimentary rock. An erosional remnant of the Roan Plateau, it is capped by the Uinta Formation, with slopes formed by the Green River Formation, and a visible Holocene landslide helps define its southeast face. The mountain and nearby land are managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Its name was in published use by at least 1913 before formal federal adoption. In the 1920s, oil shale was mined here, but today Mount Logan is chiefly recognized as a striking landmark along a major travel route.
