Craig Turner Sheldon was a master woodcarver, adventurer, writer, World War II Marine Corps veteran, and Fairhope legend. He settled here in 1946 with his wife Annie Lowrie to raise their growing family and to begin his landmark Storybook Castle on Oak Avenue. The first public statue of an artist in Alabama history honors him.
