Wasatch Mountain
Nature
Wasatch Mountain is a 13,555-foot peak in the San Miguel Mountains of southwestern Colorado, within the broader San Juan range, rising prominently above Telluride in San Miguel County. Its north face climbs about 4,750 feet above the San Miguel River valley in just three miles, giving it exceptional local relief and a commanding presence near Telluride Ski Resort. West of the Continental Divide, it occupies an alpine subarctic climate with snowy winters, cool to warm summers, and year-round precipitation. Runoff feeds tributaries of the San Miguel River. In use by 1906, its name was officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names.
