Washakie Wilderness is a protected wilderness area in Wyoming within Shoshone National Forest, managed under the federal wilderness system to remain largely undeveloped. In keeping with the 1964 Wilderness Act, access is limited to non-motorized travel, and motorized or mechanized vehicles, including bicycles, are not allowed. Roads and buildings are not constructed there, and activities such as logging and mining are prohibited. At the same time, certain traditional recreational uses continue under regulation, with camping and fishing allowed by permit and hunting permitted in season.
