John Nixon, born in Framingham on March 1, 1727, served as captain of Minute Men at Concord, colonel at Bunker Hill, brigadier general at Governor's Island and Saratoga, and on the council of war with Washington. His brother Thomas Nixon, born in Framingham on April 27, 1736, was a colonel in John Nixon's brigade and was lost at sea on August 12, 1800. Thomas Nixon, Jr., born in Framingham on March 19, 1762, was a fifer at Concord and Bunker Hill, enlisted soldier six years, captain of militia, and selectman, and died on January 4, 1840.
