John Corbly was a soldier, legislator, draftsman, patriot, and minister, born February 23, 1733, near London, England, and died June 9, 1803, at Garard's Fort, Pennsylvania. He emigrated to Philadelphia in 1747, moved to Virginia in 1751, was tutored and converted by Rev. John Garard, and settled in western Pennsylvania at Garard's Fort. He established Goshen Baptist Church on this site and 30 other churches in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. He married Abigail Bull in 1752; she was born in 1734 and died in 1768, and their children were Margaret, Rachel, Priscilla, and John. He married Elizabeth Tyler in 1773; she died in 1782, and their children were Delilah, Elizabeth, Isiah, Mary Catherine, and Nancy. He married Nancy Ann Lynn in 1784; she was born in 1761 and died in 1826, and their children were Mary, Andrew, Pleasant, Cassandra, Sarah, Amelia, Nancy, and William.
