Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Bachman–Wilson House in 1954 for Abraham Wilson and Gloria Bachman, and it was completed in 1956 in Millstone, New Jersey. A notable example of Wright’s Usonian architecture, it combines open interior space, strong connections to the outdoors, and a break from conventional box-like rooms. Its design contrasts a private street-facing front of concrete block and mahogany with a glass-filled rear, and it is unusual for a Usonian house in having a second story with cantilevered balconies. After restoration by Sharon and Lawrence Tarantino, flooding at its original Millstone River site led to its 2014 relocation to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.
