Old Concord Church was organized in 1793, 2½ miles south, as the site of a Presbyterian church and school made famous by its pioneer pastors: John Rankin, Barton W. Stone, Sam'l Shannon, John Rogers, John P. Campbell, Samuel Rannels, Robert Marshall, Robert Finley, and James Welsh. In 1851, control of Old Concord was relinquished to the Christian Church. The log structure was replaced by the present church in 1860.
