Isle au Haut Light, also called Robinson Point Light, was established on Isle au Haut, Maine, in 1907 as an active coastal aid to navigation. Built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers on land bought from Charles E. Robinson, the station included a forty-foot tower on an offshore granite foundation, a keeper’s house linked by catwalk, and several service buildings. After automation in 1934, most of the property returned to the Robinson family and later became a bed and breakfast. Preservation brought wider recognition, including National Register listing in 1988, transfer of the lighthouse to the town in 1998, and restoration in 1999.
