Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church's 1842 structure typifies 19th century rural church architecture. The site was originally the location of an early Indian burial ground and a community schoolhouse. Stained glass windows recognizing Boonton Township settlers and a cupola were installed in 1900. The church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the New Jersey Register of Historic Places.
