Hillsgrove Covered Bridge, built around 1850 over Loyalsock Creek in north-central Pennsylvania, is a Burr arch truss span and the longest of Sullivan County’s three surviving covered bridges. Constructed by 18-year-old Sadler Rodgers, it reflects Pennsylvania’s strong covered-bridge tradition through a design that combines arches and king posts for strength while shielding timber from weather. Also known as Rinkers Covered Bridge, it became the county’s first covered bridge listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Beyond carrying a single lane of traffic, it also served lumber rafting activity and survived major floods, with repeated restorations helping keep it in use.
