The original toboggan slide was built in 1904 from a design engineered by Capt. E. S. Chase. Blocks of ice were measured, cut, and transported to the foot of Lake Ave., where construction began. The 1200 ft. slide was grooved to fit hand-crafted wooden toboggans. In 1976, the E. M. Slide Association used the original plans, with modern equipment replacing horse teams, wagons, bob-sleds, and hand saws.
