Forksville Covered Bridge, built in 1850 over Loyalsock Creek at the forks that also gave Forksville its name, is a rare surviving example of Pennsylvania’s covered-bridge tradition. A Burr arch truss with a single-lane roadway, it still stands on its original stone abutments, later reinforced with concrete, and remains an active state highway crossing. Supervised by 18-year-old Forksville native Sadler Rogers, the bridge endured floods, heavy use, ice damage, and even possible demolition before restoration. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, it is one of only three covered bridges left in the county and remains both a working crossing and a local symbol.
