Eastern University Preparatory School, predecessor of Rogers State University, was founded in 1909 at this location, the former site of Claremont School. The original Claremont School was demolished in 1938, and a new Claremont Elementary School was later built on this site. Rogers State University is now a major regional university located on College Hill on the west side of Claremore.
