Narrows Covered Bridge carries a long tradition of crossings over Sugar Creek at the eastern edge of Turkey Run State Park in Indiana. The present single-span Burr Arch Truss bridge was built in 1882 by Joseph A. Britton after two earlier bridges at the site, both built by Salmon Lusk, were lost. County officials debated iron and wooden replacements, rejected initial bids, and eventually awarded Britton the contract for $3,400. Often regarded as the first bridge in Britton’s notable covered-bridge career, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and remains part of Parke County’s historic covered-bridge landscape.
