Turkey Run State Park, established in 1916 as Indiana’s second state park, became a landmark victory for conservation after a public campaign saved 2,382 acres from logging. Known for deep sandstone ravines, narrow canyons, rugged trails, and Sugar Creek, its landscape was formed by Carboniferous sandstone and later shaped by glacial meltwater. The park also preserves important historic sites tied to the Lusk family, early settlement, and Indiana’s park system, including the Lusk Home and Mill Site, the Turkey Run Inn, and the Richard Lieber Log Cabin. Rocky Hollow Falls Canyon Nature Preserve adds nationally recognized geological and ecological significance.
