C.S. Johnson’s Brigade, part of Walker’s Division, Polk’s Corps, Army of the Mississippi, included the 1st Tennessee, 15th Tennessee, Blythe’s Mississippi, 154th Tennessee, Polk's Tennessee, and Battery Cheatham in the rear. With its regiments arranged from left to right in that order and the battery behind them, the brigade bivouacked here on Saturday night, April 5, 1862. It advanced on Sunday morning along the Pittsburg Road and became engaged at 9 A.M. at the crossing of Shiloh Branch.
