The practice of medicine commenced in this building in 1891. It was begun by Edward Livingston Trudeau, continued by his son Francis Berger Trudeau, and perpetuated and expanded by his grandson Francis Berger Trudeau, Jr. as Medical Associates of Saranac Lake. The Doctors Trudeau and their successors treated and cared for the people of the North Country for over a century. In a park dedicated to the preservation of natural resources, these unique men devoted their lives and energies to conserving the health of a mountain community. In the process, they achieved world-wide distinction and left a legacy of humanistic medicine, science, and patient care.
