A congregation formed in 1822 promoting union with all Christians. Gideon Frisbee leased this land to trustees Newell Dodge, Putnam Farrington, Daniel Frisbee, John Hammond, and Clark Sloat to erect a house of worship, which was later razed. The present church, built by James Adams, was dedicated September 18, 1860, with Pastor Daniel Grant. It was placed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 2001.
