At this site stood the Old Tavern, beginning as a log house tavern in 1798 with Dr. Asahel Haskins as proprietor. A hotel was built there in 1804 by F. & E. Dibblee, and under G. Ketterer as owner the hotel was enlarged in 1872 and 1882.
