Comstock's Bridge, also known as the Comstock Covered Bridge, spans the Salmon River between East Hampton and Colchester in Connecticut and survives as one of only three historic covered bridges in the state. First built in 1840 and entirely replaced in 1873, it includes an 80-foot Howe truss main span and a 30-foot secondary span leading to the eastern shore. Damaged in the 1920s when a truck crashed through its floor, it was extensively restored in the 1930s by a Civilian Conservation Corps crew using some reused materials and adding gates. Now limited to pedestrians, it remains a rare example of the state's covered-bridge heritage.
