The Manilla Freedom Rock Veterans Memorial honors military service and sacrifice through images and inscriptions including the words, "The dead soldier's silence sings our National anthem," attributed to Rev. A. Kibourn, and references to veterans buried there: Sgt. Casey Byers, his brother Justin Paul Byers, and James Alan Justice. It also recalls World War II service through the destroyer USS Sims, which was sunk with Manilla native John Christensen aboard, and includes Army and Air Force imagery such as an Army logo, an Army train and roundhouse, and an Air Force F-22 Raptor.
