Independence Mountain is a mountain near Keystone in Summit County, Colorado, set within the ski terrain around Keystone Resort. Part of the resort extends onto its southwestern slopes, and it stands with Dercum Mountain to the west and Bear Mountain to the south. The mountain holds a place in Colorado skiing history because it was considered as a possible site for the alpine downhill event for the planned 1976 Winter Olympic Games, reflecting the area's strong snow conditions. Today, it is chiefly understood as part of the larger Keystone mountain landscape rather than as a separate destination.
