Gladstone Peak is a 13,919-foot mountain in Colorado’s San Miguel Mountains, within the Rocky Mountains, rising in the remote Lizard Head Wilderness southwest of Telluride. A Colorado thirteener exceeding 4,000 meters, it forms part of a rugged alpine landscape marked by steep relief and exposed terrain. The summit sits on an important drainage divide separating national forests and counties, giving it geographic significance within the range. Its alpine subarctic climate brings long snowy winters, cool to warm summers, year-round precipitation, winter snows, frequent summer thunderstorms, and a relatively drier period in late spring. The mountain was named for British prime minister William Gladstone.
