Mount Guyot is a high White Mountains summit in New Hampshire’s Twin Range near the northern edge of the Pemigewasset Wilderness, named for Princeton geographer Arnold H. Guyot. Its summit supports spruce-fir forest and krummholz near treeline, and its slopes feed several major drainage systems, sending water toward both Long Island Sound and the Gulf of Maine. The Appalachian Trail crosses its ridge between South Twin and Mount Zealand, making it a well-known landmark for long-distance hikers. Though it rises above 4,000 feet, Mount Guyot has remained an unusual case in New Hampshire peak-bagging because older maps understated its prominence, while newer lidar suggests enough relief to reconsider its status.
