Leah Peak is a 2,801-metre mountain on the eastern shore of Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta, rising above one of the park’s best-known lake landscapes. Its name comes from Mary Schäffer’s 1908 search for Maligne Lake, when she named this peak and nearby Samson Peak after Leah Beaver and her husband Samson Beaver, a Stoney man whose memory-drawn map guided her route. Samson had first visited the lake as a boy with his father and later recreated the route for Schäffer. First climbed in 1926, the mountain remains notable for both its scenic setting and its connection to Indigenous knowledge and exploration.
