Mount Charlton is a 3,217-metre peak in Jasper National Park in Alberta’s Canadian Rockies, rising above the west side of Maligne Lake. Named in 1911 by Mary Schäffer for Grand Trunk Pacific Railway official H. R. Charlton, it was first recorded climbed in 1921 by W. R. Hainsworth and M. M. Strumia, and its name was formally adopted in 1947. The mountain lies near Mount Unwin and stands in a subarctic climate marked by cold, snowy winters and mild summers, with extreme temperatures and wind chill. Its runoff flows into the Maligne River within the Athabasca River system.
