Bell Rock is a prominent butte in northern Arizona between the Village of Oak Creek and Sedona, immediately west of Courthouse Butte. Rising to 4,919 feet, it is one of the region’s most recognizable red-rock landmarks. Its layered look comes from horizontally bedded sedimentary rock of the Permian Supai Formation. Known for broad views, Bell Rock has become a popular scenic stop and tourist attraction, especially for hiking. The most commonly used route is a moderate climb to a small plateau on the northwest face, while reaching the true summit is harder and requires following an unmarked trail.
