Jeffries Ford Covered Bridge stood southwest of Bridgeton, Indiana, as a double-span Burr Arch road bridge built in 1915 by J. A. Britton within Parke County’s long covered bridge tradition. Because Britton was 75 when it was built, construction likely depended heavily on his family, with some of his sons believed to have done the actual work. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, it was one of the county’s notable historic bridges. Its story ended on April 2, 2002, when an arson fire destroyed it, and after attention shifted to rebuilding another burned bridge, Jeffries Ford was replaced with a modern concrete bridge.
