The Addison Gallery of American Art at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, is an academic museum devoted to American art and to teaching through its collection. Spanning the eighteenth century to the present, its holdings grew from an early group of major paintings into a broad collection of more than 22,000 works by 2022, including painting, sculpture, photography, drawings, prints, decorative arts, and ship models. Photography is especially strong, with 7,500 images covering the history of American photography. The museum also presents temporary and collection-based exhibitions year-round and expanded its facilities through a major renovation completed in 2010.
