Ward Reservation
Nature
Ward Reservation is a 704-acre protected landscape in Andover and North Andover that preserves open drumlin hilltops, historic farmland, woodlands, wetlands, and more than 17 miles of colonial-era stone walls. Managed by The Trustees of Reservations, it offers about 13 miles of trails for several outdoor activities, including a section of the Bay Circuit Trail. Its best-known feature is 420-foot Holt Hill, with sweeping views toward Boston, Salem, and the Blue Hills, as well as solstice stones marking annual celestial events. The reservation also includes the rare Pine Hole Bog and grew from a 1940 memorial gift into a larger conservation and recreation area through later donations and purchases.
