Rose Point is a small peninsula in Wareham, Massachusetts, created where the Sippican River divides from the Weweantic River. Broad near Interstate 195 and narrowing to a southeastern tip where the rivers meet, it rises gently from sea level to about 45 feet along upper Barlow Avenue. Despite very sandy soil, it is densely wooded with white pine, pitch pine, cedar, and scrub oak. Its south-coast setting brings warm summers, some winter moderation from surrounding water, and cooling breezes from the rivers and Buzzards Bay. In 2005, sewer lines were extended to Rose Point and nearby Briarwood Beach to help reduce pollution entering the rivers.
