Eight Mile Schoolhouse was built east of Cottonwood Pass in 1920. After it was discontinued as a school in 1942, the building was occupied by lettuce growers and later moved to a nearby ranch and used for grain storage. It was moved to this site in 1986, where extensive renovation was completed in 1988. The Dempster pump on the porch is a replica of the one used to pump water from the schoolhouse well.
