Nature
Byers Peak is a 12,815-foot mountain in Grand County, Colorado, southwest of Fraser. Part of the Byers Peak Wilderness, it lends its name to the surrounding protected area and is an easily recognized landmark from town. Named for William Byers, founder of the Rocky Mountain News, the peak remains one of the most visible summits in the Fraser area. Its importance lies in both its striking prominence on the landscape and its role in defining the nearby wilderness.
