Logan Glacier
Nature
1
Logan Glacier lies in a cirque northeast of Mount Logan in Montana's Glacier National Park, just east of the Continental Divide and northwest of Red Eagle Glacier. Over time it has shrunk substantially, reflecting the wider loss of glaciers across the park. It covered nearly 125 acres in 1966, but by 2005 had declined to about 75 acres, a reduction of roughly 40 percent over about four decades. Photographic comparisons from 1914 and 2009 also reveal extensive retreat, underscoring Logan Glacier's place in the park's broader pattern of glacier loss.
